PLOT
In the future shown in Geneshaft, genetic engineering has completely taken over as the dominant technology in society. Since Earth's government is authoritarian, there has been peace for 200 years. Human reproduction is regulated by the government, which also oversees all (artificial) births and modifies each new person's genetic makeup in accordance with their role in society. All individuals share a change that reduces their lifetime to 45 years. This change is made to ensure that all of the adults live healthy, active lives.
