"Di Gi Charat" is a quirky, comedic Japanese anime series that originated as a promotional mascot for the retail chain Gamers, which sells video games, anime, manga, and related merchandise. The series was created by the company Broccoli and debuted in 1999. The main character, Di Gi Charat, also known as Dejiko, is a princess of the planet Di Gi Charat, but she came to Earth to promote Gamers. She works at the store while living with two sidekicks, Gema and Petit Charat (Puchiko). Dejiko is typically depicted in a catgirl maid uniform and has the ability to shoot eye-beams, which she uses to keep trouble at bay. The series is known for its fast-paced, nonsensical humor and cute art style, often using chibi (stylized, small and cute) versions of the characters. The episodes are generally short, usually around four minutes each, and they follow Dejiko's comical misadventures and the unique characters she meets.
