PLOT
The anime takes place in the year 5053, during a conflict between the planet Earth and the Eastern Empire, which is ruled by aliens. The Count of Monte Cristo is a mysterious self-made nobleman whom Viscount Albert de Morcerf encounters while touring the Moon-based city of Lune with his childhood friend Baron Franz d'Epinay. After saving Albert from a group of kidnappers with Franz's assistance, Albert introduces the Count to Paris' elite. The influential banker Baron Jullian Danglars, his wife Victoria, and their daughter and Albert's fiancée Eugénie, as well as the Crown Prosecutor of Paris Gérard de Villefort, his current wife Hélose, and his first wife's daughter Valentine, are among those mentioned. Later, Albert runs across the Count's companion extraterrestrial princess Haydée and the flamboyant Marquis Andrea Cavalcanti, who, thanks to the Count's influence, rapidly supplants Albert as Eugénie's fiancé.
