PLOT

Alexander is the son of Olympias, a serpent magician, and Philip II, king of Macedonia. Alexander travels to the woods with Philotas and Hephaestion to tame a wild man-eating horse in order to get "speed." He befriends Cleitus and Ptolemy I Soter while there and recruits them to his cavalry. King Philip and his top advisors Attalus, Parmenion (the father of Philotas), and Antipater lead Macedonia into battle against Athens. Philip worries about Alexander's absence, but at the last minute Alexander and his cavalry arrive, taking advantage of a rift in the Athenian lines, and leading Macedonia to victory. Following their defeat, Athens sends emissaries to Persia in an effort to work with the country's new ruler, Darius III. As slaves from Athens enter, Alexander and his comrades kill the guards, leading Persia to believe that Athens is betraying them. Alexander is able to spare Ptolemy from execution at the last minute by releasing all of the horses in the city from their stables while he is being held captive and dangling in the air. Alexander also encounters Roxanne while traveling across Persia.
