SpongeBob SquarePants

The title character and a large cast of his aquatic companions serve as the series' central characters. The lively and cheerful yellow sea sponge SpongeBob SquarePants resides in a submerged pineapple. SpongeBob approaches life with a youthful zest that extends to his work as a fry chef at the Krusty Krab fast food joint. His lifelong ambition is to graduate from Mrs. Puff's Boating School with a boat-driving license, but he never succeeds. His favorite activities include "jellyfishing," which entails using a net to gather jellyfish in a way akin to butterfly catching, and blowing intricate designs into soap bubbles. He keeps a pet sea snail named Gary, who meows like a cat, and it has a pink shell and a blue body. Patrick Star, a pink starfish who lives beneath a rock and is SpongeBob's best friend, is a dimwitted but amiable starfish who lives two houses away. Patrick thinks of himself as intelligent despite his mental limitations. Squidward, an octopus that lives in an Easter Island moai and works at the Krusty Krab, is SpongeBob's next-door neighbor and coworker. He loves drawing self-portraits and playing the clarinet, but he despises working as a cashier. Additionally, SpongeBob and Patrick's immaturity makes him dislike living next to them. Mr. Krabs, the miserly, greedy red crab that owns the Krusty Krab, talks like a sailor and manages the restaurant as though it were a pirate ship. He is a single father who wishes to leave his wealth to Pearl, a grey sperm whale with scarlet lipstick and a yellow ponytail, his teenage daughter. Pearl would much rather spend her time working at the neighborhood mall or listening to music than carrying on the family company. Sandy Cheeks, an adventurous and active squirrel from Texas who uses a diving suit packed with air to breathe underwater, is another one of SpongeBob's companions. She is a scientist and a master of karate, living in a tree surrounded in a clear glass dome, sealed by an airtight, hand-turned seal.
