The titular Chowder, a cat-bear-rabbit hybrid and promising young cook at Chef Mung Daal's catering business, is the focus of the show. Despite being joyful and easygoing, Chowder frequently finds himself in predicaments that are out of his control because of his big appetite and forgetfulness. The efforts of Mung and his wife Truffles, Mung's rock monster employee Schnitzel, and Chowder's gaseous companion Kimchi to help Chowder in his quest to become a brilliant chef are constantly thwarted by the disastrous antics that result. Panini, a girl who harbors unrequited feelings for Chowder and even goes so far as to claim that he is her boyfriend in spite of the fact that they are not romantically involved, likewise casts doubt on Chowder.
