PLOT
Sakamichi Onoda is an upbeat otaku who is eager to join the anime club at his new school in order to meet new people. Unfortunately, the group has been abandoned, so he decides to resurrect it by recruiting students to join. Onoda, who has been doing the weekly 90-kilometer ride since the fourth grade, intends to make the round trip to Akihabara on his ancient, heavy city bicycle without much success. He then encounters Shunsuke Imaizumi, a keen cyclist who is using the school's steep hill for practice. They are both first-year students. Imaizumi dares Onoda to a race and offers to let him join the anime club if he succeeds. Imaizumi is impressed by Onoda's ability to ride his particular brand of bicycle up the hill. And so the young boy's first experience with high school bicycle racing gets underway!
