"Gegege no Kitarou (1996)" is the fourth anime adaptation of the "Gegege no Kitarou" manga by Shigeru Mizuki. The series aired from 1996 to 1998. The storyline continues to follow Kitarou, a young yōkai (supernatural creature from Japanese folklore) who is the last member of the Ghost Tribe. He lives in the Gegege Forest with his father, who is a sentient eyeball known as Medama-Oyaji. Kitarou, along with his yōkai companions, maintains peace between the human and yōkai worlds.
