PLOT
The story takes place between 1998 and 2002, which was the immediate future at the time of publication. Heavy building tasks are performed by robots referred to as "Labors." In order to fight crime, terrorism, and accidents using Labors, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police maintains its own fleet of Patrol Labors, also known as Patlabors. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Special Vehicle Section 2, Division 2 is typically the focus of the narrative arcs. The series' primary protagonist is Noa Izumi, while Division 2 as a whole has other roles. The main characters in the third Patlabor movie are Hata and Kusumi. The new SV2 members have the same names and personalities as the previous ones, however The Next Generation takes place in 2013 with a completely new cast except than Shige and Buchiyama who are in maintenance.
