PLOT
The Anarchy sisters, Panty and Stocking, angels who were expelled from Heaven for their misbehavior, are the focus of the show. They are taken to Daten City, which is a play on the Japanese word datenshi and refers to a realm on the boundary of Heaven and Hell that is under the control of bad spirits known as "Ghosts." The sisters seek safety under the care of the reverend Garterbelt, who assigns them the task of harnessing their propensity to change their underwear into weapons and employing them to combat evil Ghosts. The sisters gain "Heaven Coins" in the process, which they hope to use in the future to pay their way back into Heaven. Panty and Stocking, however, are frequently diverted by their individual obsessions with men and sugary treats.
