The story centers on Harley's efforts to establish herself as a capable villain in order to join the Legion of Doom. She begins by assembling her own team, which includes Sy Borgman, Poison Ivy, Clayface, Doctor Psycho, and King Shark. However, when she finally succeeds in achieving this objective, she unintentionally drifts away from her newfound friends and continues to run into issues with the Joker, who hates the thought of Harley becoming a successful supervillain without him. The Joker successfully overtakes Gotham City in the season one conclusion, but Harley and her team stop him. He destroys the entire city as a final act of vengeance, killing both Batman and himself, apparently.
