PLOT
The majority of people can't see the weird, supernatural beings known as ayakashi. While the majority of ayakashi are harmless, some assault people in order to consume their life power. Protecting humans from these vengeful ghosts is the responsibility of exorcist ninjas. Young exorcist ninja Matsuri Kazamaki was born into a renowned clan. Suzu Kanade, a friend from their youth, is an ayakashi medium—someone with a powerful aura who draws ayakashi. Suzu wants to be near to the ayakashi, but Matsuri views all of them as dangerous and wants to keep her away from them. The two eventually run upon Shirogane, the "King of Ayakashi," who is determined to devour Suzu. Matsuri saves her just as she is about to be devoured and manages to seal the ayakashi's abilities, but not before Shirogane exacts retribution by transforming him into a girl!
