Technology on Terra has advanced faster because to the discovery of the black crystalline material known as Originium, whose high energy yield enables humans to exhibit Arts, or powers like magic. At the locations of Catastrophes, various types of natural calamities brought on by the material itself, large veins of Originium can be found naturally. However, using Originium has a cost because there is a significant chance of contracting Oripathy, an extremely contagious and incurable disease. Nations punish the afflicted severely, which leads the oppressed to start a dissident movement. The rebel group, going by the name Reunion, ruthlessly ruins cities, adding to the already catastrophic character of Catastrophes.
