PLOT
Chip and Dale meet in primary school and become best friends in a world where cartoon characters and real people live side by side. They eventually go to Hollywood, where they are cast as extras in commercials and television productions before becoming stars of the popular 1990s television series Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers. However, after Dale gets his own show, Double-O-Dale, the two fall out, which results in the discontinuation of both programs. Thirty years later, Chip is a prosperous but dejected insurance salesman, while Dale spends the majority of his time traveling to conventions for fans. The two are called by Monterey Jack, a former Rescue Rangers co-star who, as a result of his stinky cheese addiction, owes money to the criminal Valley Gang. Monty tells the couple of a trafficking scheme where cartoon characters are kidnapped, have their features changed, and sent abroad to spend the rest of their life making knockoffs of their works. The two learn that Monty has been abducted later that evening. They encounter authorities Captain Putty and Officer Ellie Steckler. The latter discloses that she is a huge Rescue Rangers fan and advises Chip and Dale to do their own independent investigation because the authorities are powerless to intervene.
