PLOT

The Fukagawa ward of old Edo serves as the series' setting during the Edo era (present-day Tokyo). Residents rent commonplace items like pots, futons, and clothing from stores instead of buying them because the area is prone to flooding and fires, which makes it easier for them to evacuate. One such rental store is managed by Obeni and Seiji, an elder sister and younger brother. Tsukumogami, things that have evolved into spirits after a hundred years of existence, are however scattered within their stock. These sentient objects are occasionally lent by the siblings to clients. Other tsukumogami frequently visit the shop after hearing about the renowned Obeni and Seiji, both of whom have the ability to see and communicate with these ghosts.
