PLOT
In the future, within 48 hours following a person's passing, a new MRI technique examines their brains to retrieve images from their memories. A number of murder cases have been solved because to this innovative technology, but it has also generated ethical questions, putting Section Nine—the police section in charge of the MRI investigations led by Tsuyoshi Maki—under a lot of pressure from the government and the media. The members of Section Nine's team must negotiate with the relatives of the victims in order to obtain permission for the post-mortem MRI scans, and they must experience horrible events from the eyes of both the victims and the killers. Ikkou Aoki, a recent police academy graduate, replaces Katsuhiro Suzuki, a previous member of Section Nine who passed away under mysterious circumstances after viewing MRI tape from a particularly grisly criminal case. Suzuki was Maki's best friend. Section Nine will have to deal with its toughest challenge to date, endangering its own survival, as a string of seemingly unrelated occurrences draw closer to the investigation into Suzuki's death.
