PLOT
Shinpei Ajiro resided with Mio and Ushio Kofune when his parents passed away, but he now lives alone in Tokyo. However, Ushio goes back to his house to grieve Shiori's passing when he drowns while attempting to save the young Shiori Kobayakawa. Ushio's cause of death, however, is uncertain because of the wounds on her neck. When Shinpei takes a step back, she realizes there must be another explanation. On the island, dangerous monsters prowl the populace, and a vision of the recently murdered Ushio makes the final request that he "rescue Mio." He is certain that something is going on, and Ushio's passing only adds to the mystery. Shinpei fights to create a future in which he, his friends, and family can survive with the aid of Mio and other others. But the more research he does, the more improbable such a scenario appears to be. His native island is overtaken by this darkness.
