PLOT
Megumi "Nodame" Noda has advanced significantly as a pianist at the Conservatoire de Paris, while Shinichi Chiaki, chief conductor of the resurrected Roux-Marlet Orchestra, is swiftly establishing himself in the field. As a result of Chiaki's increasing success and his close friendship with illustrious piano prodigy Rui Son, tensions between the two have risen. Nodame enters yet another piano competition against the advise of her teacher Professor Charles Auclair in an effort to launch her own performing career. The people around Chiaki and Nodame are also facing a decision. Maestro Franz von Stresemann confronts his mortality; pianists Yunlong Li and Tatiana Vishneva prepare feverishly for a competition, while the latter also wrestles with her developing feelings for oboist and fellow student Nodame. Rui begins to doubt herself after hearing Nodame's playing and being denied Auclair's tutelage.
