PLOT
The BETA, an alien race that invaded Earth in 1973, have been the target of a desperate, three-decade-long conflict. In the midst of this mayhem, Takeru Shirogane, a high school student, abruptly awakens from a horrifying nightmare in which he witnesses humanity's complete loss. He quickly understands that his dream was nothing more than memories of his existence in a different reality. In those recollections, the Alternative V project is put into action, sparing the billion people still on Earth from a horrific fate by sending thousands of people into space as a last-ditch effort to save humanity. Takeru joins a military installation in Yokohama, which also happens to be his old high school, in an effort to alter this bleak destiny. There, he is successful in persuading Professor Yuuko Kouzuki, vice-commander of the base and project leader for Alternative IV, to stop Alternative V from taking place. Takeru and his fellow cadets must operate the enormous humanoid Tactical Surface Fighters (TSF) in order for Alternative IV to be successful. But before the ensuing disaster happens, he only has two months to finish his training and use his limited understanding of the future.
