PLOT
A terrible and enigmatic master of the occult known as the "Medicine Seller" roams feudal Japan in quest of evil spirits known as "mononoke" to slaughter. He cannot simply kill one of these spirits when he finds it; instead, he must first understand its Form, its Truth, and its Reason in order to use the powerful Exorcism Sword to battle it. It is imperative that he conduct thorough research and deep psychological analysis before beginning any odd exorcisms. This is a risky first step since the mononoke must be faced and understood before he has the tools to combat it. The Medicine Seller eventually arrives at an antique inn where Shino, a pregnant woman, has finally found a place to relax. The landlord has reluctantly given her the final available room, but when she settles down, it soon becomes apparent that the space is inhabited by the deadly Zashiki Warashi band of mononoke. Before the Zashiki Warashi can kill again, the Medicine Seller launches his inquiry using his hunter's instinct to learn the Form, the Truth, and the Reason.
