PLOT
Sora Hashiba, a high school student, was taken to the hospital after falling from the fourth story of his school. On his first night back in the hostel, he awakens to the sound of a strange boy calling him "Yoru." The unknown man introduces himself as "Ran" and introduces himself as Sora's new roommate. The following day, Matsuri Honjou, Sora's boyhood friend and dorm manager, tells him that the other boy, whom Matsuri recognizes as Sunao Fujimori or "Nao-kun," is actually another one of his childhood friends. Sunao was not a previous acquaintance of Sora's. In actuality, Sora has very little memory of his history, and the series centers on his struggle to reclaim it. Sunao and Sora both have other personas, which is why he introduced himself that first night as "Ran," as Sora eventually discovers. Yoru, a formidable defender and the lover of the more reliant, feminine Ran, is Sora. Sora's fall from the window and his unremembered history are somehow related to the existence of these different personalities and their relationship. The intense bond between the alternate identities contrasts sharply with the animosity and mistrust between Sora and Sunao. Sora and Sunao regularly find themselves in humiliating circumstances when they regain control of their brains because Yoru and Ran possess them arbitrarily.
