Yazawa Art Academy, an unique high school for the arts in Tokyo (named after the author, who makes a cameo appearance as the school's principal), is where Mikako Kda and Tsutomu Yamaguchi are students. They have a lifelong bond that began when they were young and still call the same apartment complex home. However, as their apartment management has amusingly noted, Mikako and Tsutomu's emotions have undergone an obvious metamorphosis. Both inside and outside the Akindo club, Mikako and Tsutomu's pals see this transformation and are curious about one thing: Will Mikako and Tsutomu embrace the already-existing communal debate or will they degrade into leading bitter adult lives of insignificant shortness and dysphoria?
