PLOT
Sentan Island is isolated from the conflict between the Northern Government and the Southern Continent Free Zone and dwells in a state of surreal serenity, encircled by the Yuden Sea. On Sentan Island, Akiyuki Takehara and his mother Fusa reside. The tie between father and son is still strong in spite of his mother's troubled relationship with his father, Ryuzo, the village doctor. The peace on the island is abruptly disturbed one day when Akiyuki, his closest friends Haru and Furuichi, and Nazuna, a mystery pale girl with white hair, are injured in an explosion on a school bus. A weird light from the explosion enters Akiyuki's arm, where a blue jewel then materializes. Without having time to process what has happened, and after a brief conversation between Nazuna and Akiyuki, the two are changed into the beast known as Xam'd. To save Haru as Xam'd, Akiyuki utilizes his newly acquired abilities to fend off enormous invading troops. However, he is stopped by a mystery girl who gives him the option to leave with her and live or remain and become stone. By accepting her invitation, Akiyuki sets out on a discovery-filled voyage that will lead him to new places and aid in his comprehension of the relationship between himself and the world of Xam'd.
