PLOT
The Sakura-sou dorm of Suimei High is notable for hosting the school's most notorious miscreants. Sorata Kanda, who is generally calm, is moved to the dorm, and leaving this mental asylum becomes his first priority. Being temporarily imprisoned there, he must learn how to get along with his neighbors, who include the vivacious animator Misaki Kamiigusa, the endearing playboy author Jin Mitaka, and the perpetually reclusive Ryuunosuke Akasaka. Sorata frequently finds solace in his conversations with his one "normal" companion, aspiring voice actor Nanami Aoyama, while being surrounded by craziness. Mashiro Shiina, a new exchange student, moves into the hostel, and Sorata is immediately mesmerized by her attractiveness. Mashiro is an autistic savant who, despite having an unearthly look, is unable of performing routine daily duties despite having achieved famed levels of brilliance in her work. Sorata's original wish to leave the dormitory is forgotten as the two eventually become closer after Sorata is put in charge of looking after Mashiro. Every inhabitant, despite their oddities, excels in their respective fields, leaving Sorata to deal with his own lack of special talent. He aspires to match their talent since he is surrounded by talent. Sakura-sou no Pet ni Kanojo, a charming coming-of-age story of friendship, love, ambition, and heartbreak through the eyes of an everyday person surrounded by the remarkable, revolves around the struggles and triumphs of its colorful ensemble.
