PLOT
Yukiteru Amano, a quiet middle school student, frequently keeps track of his everyday events by recording them on his phone, which he uses as a digital diary. Yukiteru claims that Deus Ex Machina, the deity of time and space, and Deus' servant, Mur Mur, are his apparently imaginary buddies, despite the fact that he has no friends at school. When Yukiteru wakes up one day, he finds that some of the events of his day have already been displayed on his phone. The events recorded in his phone are actually going to happen soon, despite his initial dismissal of it as a coincidence. After making use of this new resource all day, Yukiteru discovers that his classmate Yuno Gasai also has a diary. Deus Ex Machina says that they—along with 10 other contestants—have been dragged into a survival game whose winner will become the deity's successor as they cooperate to fend off a strange pursuer and return to their individual homes. Yukiteru and Yuno have no choice but to use their cellphones, now dubbed "Future Diaries," to survive this brutal combat royale.
