PLOT
A self-described optimist after losing the use of his right hand in the same vehicle accident that killed his mother, Tamahiko Shima now lives alone in the mountains of Chiba. He has been exiled since he is deemed incapable by his father and other wealthy relatives; he spends his free time reading and has restless nights of uncontrollable angst. Tamahiko is resigned to his new duty—stay in the mountains and wait for death to end his suffering—true to the Shimas' renowned pride and resolved not to embarrass his family. Tamahiko's sleep, however, is cut short one wintry night by a pounding at the door. Then he runs into Yuzuki Tachibana, 14, who introduces herself as his future wife! Tamahiko suddenly recalls his father telling him that he would send him a bride to help him with difficulties in his daily life Yuzuki shows that she is considerate, hardworking, and devoted to Tamahiko despite the fact that she was sold as a bride to pay off her family's debts. Will the jaded teen turn out to be oblivious to the unusual warmth she gives to his routine existence?
