PLOT
One year after the SAO incident, Seijiro Kikuoka of the "VR Division" of the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications approaches Kirito with an odd request. An investigation was conducted into the "Death Gun" incident that took place in the violent role-playing game Gun Gale Online (GGO). Even in the real world, players who are killed by a strange avatar with a jet black gun perish. Kirito connects onto GGO even though he is not quite convinced that the virtual world may literally alter the real world since he cannot refuse Kikuoka's unusual request. In search of any information regarding the "Death Gun," Kirito explores throughout a strange universe. Then Sinon, a female sniper with a massive "Hecate II" weapon, offers Kirito some assistance. With Sinon's assistance, Kirito makes the decision to participate in the "Bullet of Bullets," a significant competition to determine the most potent gunner in the GGO universe, in the hopes of being the target of the "Death Gun" and having direct contact with the enigmatic avatar.
