PLOT
A scheme to open a gate between Earth and the world of Nemesis was put into motion in 1999 by Gigelf Liqueur with assistance from the Magician's Guild. The goal was to exchange Earth's contaminated air and water for Nemesis' pure air and water. Under Tokyo, a massive cyclotron was constructed to help with this project. The plot was foiled by Ganossa Maximilian, the former apprentice of Gigelf, who opened the gate early and modified it for his own purposes. After this incident, Gigelf and the Magician's Guild fought an invasion of Lucifer Hawks, their term for the people who lived in Nemesis, for a number of years. After Gigelf's death in 2006, it seemed that the rest of the Guild also perished during the ensuing several years.
