PLOT
Rust, a wind that kills like a virus and affects everything it touches, including people, in the post-apocalyptic Japan where the story is set, has destroyed the land. It is thought to be caused by mushroom spores, which is why Bisco Akaboshi, an archer and mushroom keeper whose arrows cause mushrooms to appear quickly wherever they land, is a wanted person. Together with the young physician Milo Nekoyanagi, he searches the wastelands for the fabled "Sabikui," a fungus claimed to eat all kinds of rust, together with his enormous crab Akutagawa.
