PLOT
Planetes is a science fiction television series that centers on the crew of the DS-12 "Toy Box" of Technora Corporation's Space Debris Section. The mission of the Debris Section is to prevent satellite, space station, and spacecraft damage or destruction due to collisions with space debris in the Moon's and Earth's orbits. Through the use of EVA suits, they employ a variety of techniques to get rid of the trash, primarily by burning it during atmospheric reentry or through salvaging. Sometimes the plot is centered on the actual collection of rubbish, but more frequently the idea of gathering "junk" in space is only a device for developing characters. The workers in the Debris Section are regarded as the lowest employees and must put in a lot of effort to succeed in their goals and establish their value in the eyes of others.
