PLOT
The protagonist of the tale is Taichi Hiraga-Keaton, a well-born Englishwoman and the son of renowned Japanese naturalist Taihei Hiraga. When Keaton was five years old, his parents divorced, and the young Taichi returned to England with his mother. He pursued his adult education in archeology at Oxford University, where Professor Yuri Scott served as a mentor. Keaton wed his wife, a mathematics student at Somerville College, who he had met in Oxford. Years later, the couple got divorced, and Keaton gave custody of his 5-year-old daughter Yuriko to her mother. After graduating from Oxford, Keaton enlisted in the British Army and joined the SAS. He held the position of survival instructor and participated in battle during the Falklands War as well as the Iranian Embassy siege. As an insurance investigator for the prestigious Lloyd's of London, where he is well-known for his skills and unconventional investigative techniques, his war experience serves him well.
