PLOT
Three eighth-grade girls are highlighted in Magic Knight Rayearth: the clever and ladylike Fuu Hououji, the quick-tempered and no-nonsense only kid Umi Ryuuzaki, and the tomboyish, stubborn, yet short Hikaru Shidou. The sisters are attracted into Cephiro while taking their respective schools on a field trip to the Tokyo Tower. They discover there that the power of one's will may affect Cephiro and that the Pillar upholds Cephiro through prayer. The girls will subsequently be sent back to Tokyo if they succeed in freeing the current Pillar, Princess Emeraude, from her kidnapper, the high priest and antagonist Zagato.
