"Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045" is an anime series and the latest installment in the "Ghost in the Shell" franchise as of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021. This series is a continuation of the "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex" storyline and marks the franchise's first foray into full 3D CGI animation. The story is set in the year 2045, after an economic disaster known as the "Synchronized Global Default." Major Motoko Kusanagi and her team of former Section 9 operatives now work as mercenaries in the United States under the name "GHOST." However, they are drawn back to Japan when the "Post-Human," a being with incredible intelligence and physical abilities, emerges. The series continues the franchise's tradition of exploring deep philosophical and societal themes. It delves into issues such as the advancement of AI, cybersecurity, economic disparity, and the nature of consciousness.
