PLOT
From the New World (Shinsekai Yori) is an anime series adapted from the novel of the same name by Yusuke Kishi. The series takes place in a utopian future society in Japan, about a millennium from the present day. It follows the life of a girl named Saki Watanabe and her friends in a society where humans have developed psychic powers. Saki, like her peers, gains her psychic abilities at a young age and goes to a special school to learn to control her powers. As Saki and her friends Satoru, Maria, Mamoru, and Shun explore their world, they discover dark and troubling truths about their society and its history.
