The population of the Earth began to decrease after it had reached its maximum level. The development of AI was a massive experiment in human diversity with the goal of assisting in the conservation of species and the management of ecosystems. A diversified metropolis divided into walled "clusters" has a wide variety of people, including beastfolk, magical creatures, and others, who have been created through genetic engineering. Because of the diversity of the individuals that lived in each cluster, they each formed their own distinct culture. To ensure existence, the AI constantly maintains their lives as well as the system.
