PLOT
Future versions of personal computers are called "Persocons," which are portable computers that resemble people. Prep school student Hideki Motosuwa is eager to buy a Persocon but is unable to do so due to financial constraints. He decides to retain a Persocon he discovers one day that has been discarded. She can only utter "Chii" when he activates the Persocon, so he chooses to call her by that name. After some while, it becomes clear that Chii is not your typical Persocon. Chii appears to be a "Chobit," an advanced Persocon rumored to have independent thought, based on her significantly improved performance.
