Myoga offers InuYasha a method so that he can gain the power to break barriers. This involves traveling to a village in order to defeat and absorb the blood of a bat demon known for creating impenetrable barriers. It is explained that a bat hanyō named Shiori was given to her grandfather Taigokumaru, the leader of the bat yōkai clan, to ensure peace between the opposing sides. It is unfortunate that InuYasha is required to slay Shiori as to uphold the task of being able to break barriers.
