While taking photos of the Shinkansen in the summer heat, Hayato sees the 500 Type EVA pass by! Knowing that it’s been retired from service and that it never travels east of Shin-Osaka encourages him to pursue it. Suddenly, he emerges to see an unfamiliar city. After meeting three sisters who are named after the Shinkansen, he tours this unfamiliar city: “Tokyo-3â€. But his fun is cut short by a bizarre and horrific Giant Monstrous Being that attacks Tokyo-3 without warning. With all of his attacks deflected, Hayato is informed that only one unit can pierce this monster’s impenetrable force field: the Shinkalion 500 Type EVA and its pilot… Shinji Ikari.
