Trapped in the depths of despair after being tricked by Funai, Kaiji meets the former co-worker who got him into debt, Furuhata Takeshi. Initially mad at Furuhata, Kaiji teams up with him and finds another person to join their team named Andō Mamoru, who is also in a tight spot with 2 stars but no more cards to play with. Andō tricks Furuhata into giving him a card which he then uses to play and loses another star...
