PLOT
The fictional video game business GameaVision, which is a parody of Activision and Intellivision, and its eccentric workers, primarily the slacker Dave and his high-strung companion Jerry, are central to the plot of Code Monkeys. The entire series is set in Sunnyvale, California, in the 1980s, a city in Silicon Valley. To convey the various allusions to video games, both old and new, but especially titles from the 8-bit period, Code Monkeys uses coarse humor and stoner comedy. This includes cameo appearances by well-known video game creators that pitch GameaVision on ideas for the titles that would eventually make them famous, usually to be rejected, humiliated, and occasionally hurt or killed off.
