PLOT
When King Julien XII (also known as Uncle King Julien), a very stern and cowardly ring-tailed lemur, is prophesied to be eaten by fossa (spelled and pronounced "foosa"), he abdicates his throne in favor of his nephew, King Julien XIII, a fun and notorious party animal who now has an entire kingdom of lemurs to rule on his own. The new King Julien gets into many mishaps when Uncle King Julien is away with the help of his advisor Maurice, his head of security Clover the crowned lemur, and his strongest supporter Mort. During this time, his cunning uncle makes a comeback and seeks to get rid of his nephew in order to take back the throne. Along with the fossa and Uncle King Julien, Julien also has to deal with Clover's identical sister Crimson and the crazy fanaloka Karl. King Koto and his army depose King Julien at the end of the fourth season, forcing him into exile. However, in the fifth season, dubbed Exiled, King Julien ultimately vanquishes Koto and reclaims his throne. Following Koto's death, villains like Karl and Uncle King Julien decide to renounce their evil ways and embark on new lives in the fifth and final season. All of this builds to Clover and Sage Moondancer's honeymoon departure as Alex arrives in Madagascar, setting the scene for the first movie.
