INFORMATION

PLOT

The two best friends at the center of the series were white 11-year-old Zach Nichols and Native American 10-year-old Annie Redfeather. One of them violates the day's chosen virtue—loyalty, compassion, courage, moderation, honesty, etc.—in each episode of the show, and as a result, experiences suffering (either bodily or moral). They consult an animal buddy of Annie for advice. These four animal companions are anthropomorphic mountain dwellers who collectively have a vast knowledge of literature and tales, as well as common sense and a vibrant sense of humor. They explain the virtues to Zach and Annie using the classic writings of well-known authors, philosophers, poets, as well as tales and myths. The eldest, Plato, is a learned bison; the kindest, Aurora, a red-tailed hawk; the most boisterous, Socrates (pronounced "Soch"), a bobcat; and the most bookish, Aristotle (pronounced "Ari"), a prairie dog. These four, whose presence appears to be hidden from the majority of people in the community of Spring Valley, patiently and frequently offer advice to Annie and Zach. The kids then carry on living by the virtue of the day and finish what they started.
