INFORMATION

PLOT

Lola, Charlie's younger sister, is "small and very funny." Whether it's running out of money at the zoo and having to borrow Charlie's, or losing her entire suitcase when having a stay at a friend's house, Lola frequently finds herself in predicaments that she (inadvertently) causes. These scenarios are occasionally humorous (as in the episode "Help! I Really Mean It!"), but they frequently depict real-world issues that young children may encounter. For instance, losing a best friend, not getting the lead role in a school play, or getting overly excited about an upcoming event and unintentionally ruining it are just a few examples. In these circumstances, Charlie frequently finds herself needing to come up with original solutions on her own or explaining to Lola why she made a mistake. This is especially clear in the pilot episode, "I Will Never Not Ever Eat A Tomato," where Charlie disguises her least favorite foods—carrots, mashed potatoes, fish fingers, and tomatoes—as more fantastical ones, like "orange twiglets from Jupiter" and "ocean nibblers from the supermarket under the sea," in an effort to get her to eat them. This might persuade young kids to consume some healthful foods that they might not otherwise find appetizing.
