PLOT
Emile Petit, a reserved projectionist, makes a delivery to the Botanical Gardens in 1910 Paris with the help of his buddy Raoul. Charles, a proboscis monkey, watches over the area while the professor who works there isn't around. One potion called "Atomize-a-Tune" and the other "Super Fertilizer" are the subjects of Raoul's experiments. After the two chemicals combine, there is an explosion, and Emile sees a terrifying creature run out of the lab. Raoul's childhood friend Lucille, a cabaret performer at the club L'Oiseau Rare, is being pressured by her aunt Carlotta to wed the affluent Police Commissioner Victor Maynott. After many reports of the creature, Maynott leads an investigation that Pâté, his deputy, started. Lucille comes across the monster one night and is initially horrified before realizing it is only an enormous flea with a melodious singing voice. The creature is given the name "Francoeur" by Lucille, who lets him live in her dressing room.
