PLOT

Masaki Hinaoka, 14, is vivacious and upbeat as he walks his pet corgi around the beach in the early morning sunlight. Masaki's eyes start to shine in wonder as he notices a blond boy surfing with a soft smile on his gentle face. Soon after, Masaki runs into him again as Shou Akitsuki, a new classmate. Shou has been actively involved in surfing since he was a little youngster. Masaki's best buddy, the laid-back half-Hawaiian Nalu Tanaka, enjoys surfing, but Masaki has never expressed interest in taking up the sport for himself. But despite not knowing how to swim, his admiration for Shou's surfing technique drives him to attempt the waves for the first time. Masaki demonstrates a startling amount of potential and balance talent on the surfboard. He picks things up quickly, and with Shou and Tanaka by his side, finally enters a local tournament. But Shou's sweet grin conceals a darker shadow that threatens to engulf his friends. Masaki nevertheless bravely enters the enjoyable world of surfing, striving to be the best.
