PLOT

Mutta Nanba and his younger brother Hibito watch what they think is a UFO traveling toward the Moon one fateful summer night in 2006. Both of the siblings decide to become astronauts as a result of this fascinating and unique phenomena, with Mutta setting his sights on Mars and Hibito going for the moon because he believes his older brother must be one step ahead. Now an adult, Mutta's life hasn't turned out the way he had envisioned it: he toils away in an automobile company, while Hibito is en route to becoming the first Japanese man to set foot on the moon. The Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency, or JAXA, accepts Mutta's application to take part in the upcoming astronaut selection, giving him an unexpected chance to catch up to his younger brother after he loses his job. Despite having reservations about his chances, Mutta is unwilling to blow this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and sets off on a challenging trip to keep the commitment made 19 years earlier.
