PLOT
Kou Yamori is a typical middle schooler who finds it difficult to understand the nuanced idea of love. He quickly stops attending school because he doesn't see any point in conforming to the standard. Kou starts to wander the lonely streets at night after developing insomnia as a result of his inactivity. One night, Kou meets a strange girl by the name of Nazuna Nanakusa who thinks that people are awake at night because they are unhappy with their day and can't sleep until they let go of their inhibitions. Kou is invited to Nazuna's house where she offers to help him with his sleeping problems and persuades him to sleep on her futon. Kou, who feels uneasy, simply pretends to sleep, but then Nazuna bites his neck and reveals herself to be a vampire! Kou believes that the bite would transform him into a vampire, but the process of changing is more complicated than that. He has to be bit by someone he truly loves in order to change. Kou, who is prepared to leave his dull mortal life behind, makes the decision to pursue Nazuna and turn into a vampire.
