INFORMATION

PLOT

The Material Betterment Act was passed by the Japanese government in 1989, giving the Media Betterment Committee (MBC) the authority to control and destroy any "problematic" media under the pretext of upholding public morals. Regional governments created the Library Defense Force (LDF) in response, whose members take up arms and risk their lives to defend free speech. The Library Task Force (LTF), an elite group made up only of the best fighters, is at the top of the LDF's Kanto branch. Iku Kasahara first encountered the dread of censorship as a high school student when she resisted handing over the most recent volume of her beloved series to MBC agents. She was only able to escape unharmed because one LDF member stood up for both her and her prized book. Kasahara, now in her twenties and still unable to forget the guy who saved her, joins the LDF in an effort to resemble her prince. She had no idea that LDF training would be as demanding as it was, and her instructor, LTF member Atsushi Doujou, seemed hell-bent on making her life as difficult as possible. Kasahara is startled that Doujou's recommendation led to her being chosen as one of the two new LTF members given her challenges. Kasahara fights the good fight both on the battlefield and in her private life as she makes every effort to earn the respect of the LTF and understand the intentions of her mysterious superior.
