In Seiken Tsukai no World Break, the action takes place in Akane Private Academy, where students who have memories of past lives are being taught how to employ Ancestral Arts so they can protect themselves from monsters known as Metaphysicals who attack out of the blue. The pupils, known as saviors, are divided into two groups: the kurogane, who can conjure powerful weapons with their prana, and the kuroma, who can utilize magic. During the opening ceremonies on the first day of the school year, six months before the big climax of the series, the story is introduced. After the ceremony, the main character, Moroha Haimura, meets Satsuki Ranjou, who reveals that she was once Moroha's younger sister when he was a brave prince with the ability to defeat entire armies with his sword prowess. Soon after, he meets Shizuno Urushibara, a different girl, who later confesses that she previously knew Moroha as a dark lord who could use devastating magic but freed her from a life of enslavement.
