PLOT
There are only a few male baseball teams in Japan in 1925 (year 14 of the Taisho era), and baseball is still not very well recognized there. 14-year-old Akiko asks her friend Koume to form a baseball team after hearing from a baseball player that women should stay at home and raise their families rather than attend school. Her goal is to disprove the baseball player. Baseball is known as "what the boys do" during this time, when even running was thought to be too vulgar for women, and they face many challenges when having to find enough members, getting parental consent, and also when learning about the sport itself, which they quickly discover to be more difficult than expected.
